installation general: Ensure that

1. Remove the sill expander, if provided, from the top of the window. Sill expanders are mounted on the top of the window for shipping purposes only.
2. Attach sill expander to the sill of the window. The sill of the window can be determined by looking for the predrilled drainage holes in the frame. 1/8” Water drainage holes are drilled in each track of the frame at the sill.
3. There is enough variability in blind stop width that installation holes must be located at the time of installation in the field. Ensure that installation holes will engage the blind stop or trim.
4. Drill 1/8" diameter holes through mounting flange of storm window on the top and two sides only. Locate holes approximately every 18" to 24”. The installation flange has several tear lines that can be used for installation hole guides.
5. Screw storm window to the blind stop or trim board with installation screws provided. Pay particular care to keep the frame of the storm window square and plumb. Failure to do so, will affect storm window operation and the weather-seal..
6. Screw sill expander down to the sill through installation holes provided at the ends for a snug fit. An additional screw may be located in the center of wide windows.
7. Apply a bead of caulk at the head and two sides of storm window to the surface joint where the installation flange laps the blind stop or trim. Be careful in applying caulk to the sill. The sill must allow water drainage. Care should be taken not to block or impede water drainage through the embossed weep channels of the sill expander. No caulk should be used at these embossed weep channels. Adequate drainage for the storm is a must and it is the installers responsibility to ensure this.
